Gannon Drops 20-8 Decision at No. 22 Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team suffered its third straight loss on Saturday, dropping a 20-8 decision at Seton Hill. The Griffins came in ranked 22nd in the latest IWLCA Division II Rankings. The Golden Knights are in the midst of a three-game road trip to end the season while facing some of the top teams in the PSAC.

Gannon is now 5-11 overall and 3-8 in the PSAC West, while Seton Hill is now 13-3 and sits atop the PSAC West at 9-2. The Golden Knights wrap up the 2022 campaign next Saturday, April 30 playing at crosstown rival Mercyhurst.

The Golden Knights were unable to overcome a fast start by Seton Hill. The Griffins scored three goals in just over two minutes to start the match and led 10-2 after one period. Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) and McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) accounted for the Gannon goals on free position shots.

The Griffins outscored Gannon 5-1 in the second quarter for a 15-3 at halftime. Alli Jacobs (Eden, N.Y./Eden) scored the Gannon goal.

Gannon would outscore Seton Hill 4-1 in the final 15 minutes, holding the Griffins without a goal for the final 9 minutes 26 seconds.

Stevens led Gannon with three goals as the freshman now has a team-leading 43 goals. Woodworth added two goals, as did Jacobs. Woodworth has scored 38 goals and Jacobs 26 on the season. Macy Hepditch (Waterloo, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) scored her 32nd goal to complete the Gannon scoring.

Seton Hill held a 34-15 advantage in shots, although the draw controls were near even at 17-15 in favor of Gannon. The Golden Knights had 19 turnovers and Seton Hill 12. Alaina TeSelle led Seton Hill with five goals, adding a pair of assists. Jaclyn Frank had four goals and six assists.

Cheyenne Jess (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) played the first half in goal and had four saves, with Kendra Delissio (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) taking over in the second half and registering three saves.
