Gannon Travels to No. 22 Seton Hill on Saturday

ERIE, Pa. – A Gannon women's lacrosse team that has lost its last two matches and five of the last six looks to slow down a Seton Hill team that has won eight straight matches and has climbed to 22^nd in the latest IWLCA Division II Poll. The two will meet on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Seton Hill. Gannon comes in at 5-10 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC West while Seton Hill has improved to 12-3 and 8-2, respectively. The Griffins are in first place in the PSAC West, a half game ahead of Indiana(Pa.).

Gannon is in the midst of playing its final three games on the road. The stretch began with a 24-8 loss at Slippery Rock on Tuesday. Following Saturday's game at Seton Hill, Gannon concludes the 2022 campaign against another team in the hunt for the PSAC crown, visiting Mercyhurst on Saturday, April 30.

The Golden Knights gave Seton Hill a strong battle in the first meeting, with the Griffins prevailing 15-10 at McConnell Family Stadium on March 26. Gannon would trail 11-2 midway through the third quarter before rallying to close to within 12-9 early in the fourth quarter. Seton Hill would score three of the final four goals to hold off the Knights.

Third-year head coach Jennifer Pawlowski has molded a young team into a much-improved unit that features several dependable scorers. Five different players have scored 20-or-more goals. McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) and Macy Hepditch (Waterloo, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) are tied for the team lead in points with 44. Woodworth, a sophomore who was the 2021 PSAC West Freshman of the Year, stands second on the team in goals with 34 and adds 10 assists. She earned second team All-PSAC West honors a year ago after leading Gannon in goals (40), assists (60), and points (46). She ranked sixth in the PSAC in goals. Hepditch, also a sophomore, has 30 goals and a team-high 14 assists.

Freshman Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) has taken over the team lead in goals with 37, adding four assists for 41 points. Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell), who led the PSAC in goals in 2020 with 22, adds 21 goals and four assists for 25 points. Alli Jacobs (Eden, N.Y./Eden) has contributed 22 goals and an assist.

Pawlowski has employed both Cheyenne Jess (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) and Kendra Delissio (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) in goal, with Jess seeing the majority of action of late. The senior has 92 saves and a 14.12 GAA in 624 minutes. Delissio has played 283 minutes and has a 9.98 GAA.
