The Gannon women's volleyball team is ranked No. 3 in the initial NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rankings, which were released on Wednesday.
Coach
Matt Darling's team is 21-5 overall and 19-2 against teams from the region this season. PSAC West rival Clarion is ranked No. 1 in the region and Wheeling (W.Va.) is No. 2. Two other PSAC West teams are among the top seven: IUP is sixth, and Edinboro is seventh.
Gannon was listed among the initial Atlantic Region list last week, but the teams were not ranked in order. The regional rankings are used to help pick and seed NCAA Tournament participants after the conference tournaments.
Gannon and Clarion are tied for first place in the PSAC West with 13-1 records. The Golden Knights will visit IUP on Friday and travel to Clarion on Saturday. If both teams win on Friday, the Clarion-Gannon match will decide the regular-season champion and the No. 1 seed for the PSAC Tournament next week.
