HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Following a scoreless first two innings, Kieran Gagnon (Mono, Ontario/Westside) sparked Gannon singling down the right side to score Trey Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) to make the score 1-0. Two batters later, Tyler Mattocks (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) cracked a two RBI double into left to stretch the lead up to 3-0.
  • After scoreless fourth and fifth innings, the Griffins pulled back within two, 3-1, after a throwing error in the sixth frame. Gannon responded in the bottom half of the inning after Jorge Mejia (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Jose) stole third and then got home on a throwing error, 4-1. Miguel Vega (Florida, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) then added on one more insurance run after Zeroski grounded out.
  • Deven Judy (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) closed out the final three outs on the hill picking up one strikeout to finish the complete game and  the 5-1 win.
GAME NOTES
  • With the win, Gannon earned its third win of the season against a top 25 opponent.
  • As a team, the Knights posted 10 hits, four RBI and three stolen bases.  
  • Alex Baldi (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) notched a season-high in hits going 3-for-4 at the plate.
  • Kieran Gagnon (Mono, Ontario/Westside) went 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI and one stolen base.
  • Judy (2-3) logged his second complete game of the season tossing a game-high nine strikeouts. He has now registered nine complete games in his career, which ranks tied for eighth all-time in Gannon history. Judy also increased his career strikeout total to 215, which ties him for second the Gannon all-time list with Greg Radwan (2007-10).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon carried energy over into game two as Mattocks got things going with an RBI single to center field for the first run of the contest, 1-0. The Knights kept their foot on the gas into the second after Kyle Ives (Fox River Grove, Ill. /Cary-Grove Community) blasted an RBI triple into right center to make the score 2-0. Ives tacked on one more run taking advantage of throwing error to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • Seton Hill retaliated with two runs in the third to pull back within one, 3-2, after a Tyler Peterson grounded out to second base allowing Jordan Fiedor to score. The Griffins then captured momentum in the fourth with five runs to steal the lead, 7-3, after Peterson connected on a two RBI double into right center.
  • Gannon attempted to rally late after Brandon Wetherholt (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars Area) used a sacrifice fly to score Ives, 8-4, but the Knights went on to leave two on base and drop the contest, 8-4.
GAME NOTES
  • As a team, Gannon totaled six hits and three RBI.
  • Ives went 2-for-2 with a team-high two runs and one RBI.
  • Gagnon contributed one hit and one run.
  • Tre Thomas (Ambridge, Pa. /Ambridge Area) (2-2) went 3.2 innings on the mound with a team-best four strikeouts.
