Men's Soccer Takes On USL's Pittsburgh Riverhounds In Exhibtion Action

PITTSBURGH — The Gannon men's soccer team continued its spring season with one of its stiffest tests, taking on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League in exhibition action Thursday afternoon.

The Riverhounds, who play in second-highest professional league in the country and went 11-4-1 in 2020, were getting set for their 2021 season, and took a 3-0 decision in blustery conditions at Highmark Stadium.

Gannon ceded just one goal in the 10th minute in the first half, playing the final 35 minutes of the period without allowing a score. The Riverhounds then scored in the 58th and the 76th minutes in the second half.

The Golden Knight keepers made five saves on the day, while the offense produced five shots, putting two on goal.

Gannon is back in action Saturday, heading across town to face Mercyhurst at 4 p.m.
