HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mercyhurst got the scoring started in the first frame as Jack Elliot connected on a home run, 1-0. One inning later, the Lakers pushed their lead to 4-0 after Luke Jackson posted a three RBI home run to left center.
  • Gannon cut the deficit in half with a two runs in third frame. Andre Gillems (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) grounded out to the short stop allowing Tyler Mattocks (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) to get home, 4-1. Trey Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) then used a sacrifice fly to center field to send Luke Callahan (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) home, 4-2.
  • Gannon threatened to tie the contest in the fifth inning getting two on base but went to leave both stranded and drop the contest, 4-2.
GAME NOTES
  • As a team, Gannon posted four hits and two RBI.
  • Callahan went 2-for-3 at the plate with a team-best two hits and one run.
  • Trey Thomas (0-1) went all 6.0 innings on the mound for the Knights and fired a season-high seven strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening frame as Wetherholt was able to score on a wild pitch. Mercyhurst quickly stole the edge in the bottom half after Jack Elliott notched a two RBI home run to left center to make the score 2-1.
  • Following a scoreless second inning, Brandan Rea (Washington, Pa./Canon-McMillian) grounded out to the short stop allowing Wetherholt to lock the contest, 2-2. Elliott once again answered for the posting a two RBI home run to right field to regain the lead, 4-2.
  • Mercyhurst went on to add three insurance runs in the sixth stanza to seal the win, 7-2.
GAME NOTES
  • As a team, Gannon tallied a season-high four stolen bases, two hits and one RBI.
  • Wetherholt paced the Knights with a career-high three stolen bases, two runs and one hit.
  • Miguel Vega (Florida, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) also tallied one hit and one stolen base.
  • Jacob Visha (Cleveland, Ohio/Trinity) (1-2) got the start for the Knights and posted three strikeouts over 2.0 innings.
  • Evan Harrison (Mississauga, Ontario/St. Aloysius Gonzaga S.S) also tossed three strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work.
