Gannon Men Finish Fourth In Return To Racing At Lock Haven

Event: 2021 LHU Winter Invite | Lock Haven | Castanea, Pa.
Distance: 5k (Road Race)
Result: Gannon finished 4th out of 4 teams in attendance.
The Short Story: Caleb Mandel (Harborcreek, Pa./Harbor Creek) led the way as the Gannon men's cross country team got back to competitive racing for the first time in over 15 months Saturday afternoon at the LHU Winter Invite.

EVENT NOTES

The Golden Knights were competing in a live race for the first time in 476 days after seeing the fall schedule canceled and competition pushed to the spring this year.
Due to course conditions, the 5k run took place as a road race at Lower Creek Road just south of Lock Haven.
Mandel led the Knights with a 16th-place finish in the field of 35. It was the sophomore's first time as the top Gannon finisher in a race.
The top seven runners for the Knights were sophomores, getting their first action after the class played a large role on last year's team.

UP NEXT

Gannon continues its sprint of a 2021 spring season next weekend, hosting the Gannon Invitational with Mercyhurst and Clarion on Saturday.
Course conditions may necessitate a change in venue from Pleasant Ridge Park to another location. That information will be communicated early next week.
