ERIE, Pa. -- No. 24 Gannon is back in action with a two-game home-and-home nonconference series with D'Youville.  The Knights visit the Saints on Tuesday before wrapping up the series on Thursday.  Both contests are set for 6:00 p.m.
 
QUICK HITS
  • Gannon begins the week with a 6-0 overall record after sweeping Clarion over the weekend.
  • The Knights moved into the NABC Top 25 Poll at No. 24 after receiving votes the previous week. Gannon was also positioned No. 6 in the final D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll.
  • This will mark the first all-time meeting between D'Youville and Gannon.
  • Through the first six games of the season, Gannon ranks in the top 10 in three categories: three-point field goal percentage (3rd, 43.7), assists per game (7th, 18.0) and rebound margin (9th, 7.7).
OFF AND ROLLIN'
  • Gannon has started the season with a 6-0 overall record, which is the best start to a season since the 2012-13 season. It's also the longest win streak under head coach Kelvin Jefferson.
  • Gannon enters the week after back-to-back wins over Clarion last week. The Knights had three players reach double digits in scoring in the road win over Clarion, 72-60, on Feb. 10. Ike Herster (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) paced Gannon with a team-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.
  • The Knights wrapped up the series netting 51 points in the second half in game two to secure the 83-63 win over the Golden Eagles on Feb. 13. Herster led the way with a team-high 19 points, while Braden Olsen (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) just missed a triple-double with 15 points, nine rebounds and game-high seven assists.
BLOCK PARTY
  • Gannon notched a season-high 10 blocks as a team in the road win over Clarion on Feb. 10. Amani Walker (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and Ian McNeill (Erie, Pa./East) led the Knights on the defensive end each contributing a game-high three blocks.
  • It marked the most blocks by a Gannon team in a single game since it posted 10 against Findlay on Jan. 10, 2008.
LIGHTING UP THE SCOREBOARD
  • Gannon netted a season-high 95 points against Daemen on Jan. 31. It marked the most points scored by the Knights in a single game since the 2016-17 season.
  • Gannon drained a season-best 34 field goals in the win. The Knights also netted a season-high 15 three pointers, which is the most in a single game since at least the 2002-03 season.
SHARING THE ROCK
  • As a team, Gannon is averaging 18.0 assists per contest, which ranks seventh in the nation.
  • The Knights have passed out 20 or more assists in two games this season, including a season-high 28 vs. Daemen on Jan. 31. The performance marked the most assists in a game since Gannon passed out 30 against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Nov. 17, 2007.
FROM DOWNTOWN
  • Gannon has netted 10 or more three pointers in four contests this season and is shooting 43.7 percent from behind the arc, which ranks third in the nation.
  • The Knights connected on a season-high 15 triples against Daemen on Jan. 31, which was the most since at least the 2002-03 season.
CONTROLLING THE GLASS
  • Gannon in grabbing 40.8 rebounds per game his season. The Knights have snatched 40 or more in four games this season, including a season-high 48 against Kentucky State on Jan. 12.
  • Gannon also boasts a +7.7 rebounding margin, which ranks seventh in NCAA Division II.
DIRECTING TRAFFIC
  • Braden Olsen (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) has wasted no time getting his teammates involved in the action this season handing out 6.7 assists per game, which ranks seventh the nation.
  • Olsen made an impact in his first game as a Knight passing out a career-high 12 assists against Kentucky State on Jan. 12. The performance ranks as the fifth most in NCAA Division II this season.
  • He was the first Knight to reach double digits in assists in a game since Jimmy Berger notched 14 against California on Jan. 3, 2017. 
FINDING HIS ROLE
  • Ike Herster (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) has started all six games this season and is netting a team-best 14.8 points per game. He helped lead the Knights in the win over Daemen on Jan. 31 with his first career 20-point game with a career-best 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. Herster also netted a career-best five three pointers against the Wildcats.
D'YOUVILLE AT A GLANCE
  • D'Youville enters the week with a 1-5 (0-3 ECC) overall record and has dropped its last five games. Most recently, D'Youville fell short at No. 7 Mercyhurst, 99-31, on Feb. 13. Jared Sullivan paced the Saints with a team-best 10 points.
  • D'Youville will open the week with a home contest against Daemen on Monday night before welcoming Gannon on Tuesday night.
  • The Saints are led by 10th year head coach Earl Schunk.
  • D'Youville is a member of the East Coast Athletic Conference.
  • Grant Beyer sets the standard for the Saints with a team-high 13.5 points to go along with 4.3 rebounds per game. He's posted five double digit scoring performances this season, including a season-high 21 at Daemen on Feb. 10.
