Men's Wrestling Wraps Up Dual Season Looking For PSAC Championship

The Golden Knights will close their dual season with back-to-back tough matchups, heading to No. 11 Mercyhurst Tuesday and No. 4 Pitt-Johnstown Saturday. With wins in both duals, Gannon will clinch its second straight PSAC title, but it will have to go through both to do it. Mercyhurst features four nationally ranked wrestlers and nine regionally ranked, while UPJ has all 10 grapplers in the Super Region 1 rankings, and half its lineup in the top 12 nationally.

Gannon gets right back into the pool for its second weekend of action, this time at the Haggerty Family Events Center in Erie. The Knights are 2-2 on the year after splitting both days at the Bucknell Invitational this past weekend. Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) notched 10 goals in the team's four games, while Nicole Wiemken (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) added nine goals and five assists. Their first opponent of the weekend, Bucknell, is ranked 23rd in the country.

Fresh off of an 11th-place finish at the WCWA National Tournament over the weekend, the Knights will head west for the first of two duals to fill the space between their two national tournaments this season. Gannon holds a 29-13 victory over the Dragons earlier this season, but Tiffin enters with half its lineup achieving All-America status at WCWAs.

Gannon got its 2020 season off to a fantastic start with a victory over Adrian on Sunday, and will look to continue the momentum with its second home meet in a week. Alderson Broaddus will be making their season debut, and went 4-4 last season, including a 260-760-247.330 defeat to the Knights. Saturday will also be Gannon's annual Make-A-Wish Meet, with a gift basket raffle and other fundraisers to benefit Make-A-Wish, as well as recognition of Make-A-Wish families in attendance.
