AROUND THE LEAGUE THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
  1. Gannon enters the contest with a 7-8 (6-5 PSAC) record and most recently came up short in the final seconds at Mercyhurst, 58-55, in the first Porreco Pride of Erie Game of the season.
  2. Gannon continues to find success behind the arc this season shooting 40.7 from three, which ranks second in the PSAC and 14th in NCAA Division II. Chris Clancy (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) paces the Golden Knights from downtown shooting 48.9 percent, which ranks first in the PSAC and seventh in the nation.
  3. Gannon is hauling in 34.5 rebounds and is holding its opponents to a PSAC-low 30.5 rebounds per game. The Knights have a +4.1 rebounding margin, which ranks fifth in the PSAC. Gannon has held its last two opponents to 28 or less rebounds and is 7-4 this season when winning the rebounding battle.
FACING CALIFORNIA
  • Gannon has won six of the last seven meetings with California. In their most recent meeting last season, the Knights topped the Vulcans, 70-69, in overtime after DeAnte Cisero (Chicago, Ill./Montgomery County (Ky.)) netted a pair of clutch free throws with 1.2 seconds to play.
  • This will season will mark the 35th all-time meeting in a series that dates back to 1949-50. Gannon is 15-5 when facing California at home and also leads the all-time series, 20-14.
SCOUTING THE VULCANS
  • California enters the contest with an 11-6 (7-4 PSAC) overall record and have won four of their last five games. Most recently, California dropped a 86-69 decision at No.  7 Indiana last week.
  • Brent Pegram paces the Vulcans averaging 18.2 points per game. He has hit double digits in scoring in every game this season.
  • Jermaine Hall Jr. is hauling in a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game this season. He pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds at Carlow on Dec. 17.
