AROUND THE LEAGUE THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
  1. Gannon enters the contest having won four of its last six games and most recently came up short against No. 9 Indiana (Pa.), 85-64.The Knights trailed by only three at halftime, but couldn't hold off the high-powered Crimson Hawks.
  2. Gannon continues to have success from the three point arc this season shooting 40.7 percent, which ranks second in the PSAC and 13th in NCAA Division II. Chris Clancy (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) leads the Knights shooting 50.7 percent from three this season, which slots him first in the PSAC and sixth in NCAA Division II.
  3. This game will feature a battle of first-year head coaches with Gannon head coach Kelvin Jefferson facing Clarion head coach Damian Pitts.
FACING CLARION
  • Gannon has won its last two meetings with Clarion and recently topped the Golden Eagles last season, 64-36, on the road. Victor Olawoye (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) and Matt Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) led the Knights with 12 points each.
  • This will mark the 55th all-time meeting a series that dates back to 1948-49. Gannon is 15-10 in road contests when facing Clarion and leads the all-time series, 41-13.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
  • Clarion enters the contest having lost its last six games and most recently fell short at againt Pitt-Johnstown, 67-64.
  • The Golden Eagles have three players averaging double digits in scoring with Stevan Rodriguez setting the pace with a team-high 12.6 points per game.
  • Mason Mraz is hauling a team-high 5.9 rebounds with 8.3 points per game.
  • Aaron Hilzendeger has buried 37 three pointers this season, which ranks third in the PSAC.
