How It Happened: Gannon held Clarion to just 183 yards of total offense in a defensive battle, but penalties proved costly as the Golden Eagles escaped with a 14-9 win on a late-third-quarter touchdown. Jason Dambach (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) threw for 270 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Knights.

SCOUTING GANNON

Gannon was able to move the ball successfully last week against Kutztown, but wasn't able to consistently find the end zone as the Golden Bears picked up a 35-10 win.
The Golden Knights have recorded at least one interception on defense each game this season. Four different players have a pick, and Gannon is 20th in the country with five total interceptions.
Gannon is looking to win its PSAC West opener for the first time since 2014.

SCOUTING CLARION

Quarterback Jeff Clemens accounted for three total touchdowns in the team's loss against Shepherd last week. The Golden Eagles allowed the high-powered Shepherd passing attack to accumulate 394 yards though, including scoring strikes of 61, 24, 25 and 40 yards.
Running back Mylique McGriff leads the PSAC through three weeks with 353 rushing yards, helping bolster an offense that averages 40.0 points per game and 427.0 yards of offense.
The Eagles are 2-1 or better through Week 3 for the first time since their impressive 7-4 season in 2015. In head coach Chris Weibel's first year at the helm, Clarion started the season by winning its first seven games.

UP NEXT

The Golden Knights remain at home for a clash with cross-county foe Edinboro on Oct. 5.
The noon kickoff from McConnell Family Stadium will be preceded by a ceremony with representatives from the conference as they honor Gannon's members of the PSAC 150 contributors, announced in August.
