GANNON STORYLINES/NOTES:
  • Gannon (11-11, 7-7 PSAC) is looking for its third straight win and a season sweep of the Seton hill Griffins on Wednesday at the Hammermill Center. The Lady Knights are fresh off their best defensive effort of the season following a 59-40 road win last Saturday at Pitt-Johnstown.
  • The Lady Knights basketball program is no stranger to great defensive efforts over the years. Recently, Gannon surrendered just 41 points to Mansfield in January 2016 and held Pitt-Johnstown to 46 points back on January 27, 2018 at the Hammermill Center. The fewest points Gannon allowed in a game was 18 against Hilbert in 1994.
  • Gannon limited Pitt-Johnstown to just one made three in the road victory last Saturday, holding an opponent to its lowest shooting percentage from beyond the arc (.071) this season.
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) put together the best statistical two-game stretch of her career last week, helping Gannon to wins over Slippery Rock (75-69) and Pitt-Johnstown (59-40). Rourke opened the week by tying a career-high 20 points against The Rock and followed it up with 17 points while tying a season-high mark with three steals against the Mountain Cats.
  • The strong week has helped Rourke increase her scoring average from 11.9 to 12.5 points/game in just two outings.
  • Foul shooting has been strong for the Lady Knights, who have shot at least 75% or higher as a team from the line over the past seven games.
  • Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) has been a force underneath and is third in NCAA DII in field goal percentage (.647). She leads the team in scoring (15.5 PPG) and has turned in at least 10 points in nine consecutive games.
  • Despite scoring just three points last Saturday, Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough) chipped in with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 33 minutes. Mitchell had strung together a stretch of three consecutive double figure games prior to February 2, averaging 12.6 points/game over that span.
  • Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) tied a season-high in scoring with 10 points against Pitt-Johnstown while tying a career-high with four steals against the Mountain Cats.
  • Gannon shot 52.5% from the floor in its last meeting with Seton Hill and led the Griffins by as many as 21 points in the conference matchup.

SCOUTING SETON HILL:
  • Seton Hill (13-8, 7-7 PSAC) is coming off a 78-70 Senior Day win over Clarion last Saturday.
  • Megan Marecic was one of three Griffins in double figures with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Marecic is averaging 17.8 points/game to lead the Griffins and rank ninth in the conference.
  • Marecic, a graduate transfer from Drexel, also paces the Griffins in rebounding with 7.5 boards/game.
  • Seton Hill boasts a 7-3 mark in road games this season. In those seven wins, the Griffins are averaging 79.1 points/game.
  • The Griffins are a potent offensive unit for head coach Mark Katarski, ranking 19th nationally and third in the conference at 78.8 points/game.
  • Cheyenne Trest also averages double figures for SHU (11.8) and leads the team with 68 assists this season.
  • Seven different players have converted at least 10 three-pointers this season for Seton Hill, paced by Marecic's 60.

UP NEXT:
  • Gannon stays home through the weekend, hosting IUP on Saturday, February 9 at 1:00 PM inside the Hammermill Center.
  • The game will be the first against the three teams currently occupying the top three spots in the PSAC West standings.
