HOW IT HAPPENED
  • While Siena struck first, Gannon answered with a game-tying response from Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County) at the 5:26 mark of the opening quarter. Sydney Fountain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) tied the game at two with her first goal of the quarter and later tied the contest at 4-4 with another tally with less than one minute remaining in the first. Libby Tirak (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) also scored for Gannon in the first quarter.
  • The Saints dictated the pace of play for much of the second quarter, notching three of the first four goals in the frame. Kredinger brought Gannon back to within striking distance, firing home the final goal of the opening half as Gannon trailed 7-5.
  • Siena came out firing in the second half, producing the first three goals for a 10-5 lead over Gannon, but Nicole Wiemkan stopped the run and brought the Lady Knights to within four (10-6).
  • Gannon opened the fourth quarter with three straight goals, courtesy of Fountain, Fehr and Rinderle, to cut its deficit to 11-9. Siena countered with the dagger at 1:37 in the fourth, creating just enough separation to withstand the Lady Knights final goal from Kredinger with 22 seconds left in the game.

GAME NOTES
  • The second half of the Siena game was a tale of two quarters for Gannon, who outscored the Saints 4-1 in the fourth after being outscored 4-1 in the third quarter.
  • Gannon posted a season-high 10 goals against Siena and allowed a season-low eight goals to Saint Francis.
  • Fountain set her career-high in scoring with four goals against Siena last February.
  • With four goals yesterday and one today, Ruh is now in sole possession of 17th place on Gannon's all-time career goals list with 85.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon is back in action next weekend at the Mercyhurst Invitational in Erie.
