How It Happened: A 75-yard drive midway through the first quarter gave the Golden Knights a 7-3 lead over the divisional champ, but Slippery Rock bounced back to earn the win headed into the PSAC Championship game.

SCOUTING GANNON

Gannon bounced back to tie the game at 7-7 late in the third quarter, but Mercyhurst responded on the next drive and pulled away for a 28-7 win last Saturday.
Tre McNeill (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College HS) led the Gannon defense in tackles for the fourth consecutive week, and now leads the team with 65 stops on the year.
Another two takeaways against Mercyhurst pushed Gannon up to 28th in Division II with 19 forced turnovers. The Knights are 10th in the nation with 14 interceptions.
An interception and a goal-line stand left Mercyhurst without points on two of five red zone attempts, something the Gannon defense has excelled at this year. The Golden Knights rank 39th in the country, allowing scores on just 71.7 percent of opponents' trips inside the 20.
Tre McNeill (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College HS) and Jayden Ashby (Kensington, Md./The Avalon School) both top the PSAC in helping Gannon get turnovers. McNeill leads with two fumble recoveries, and Ashby with 0.5 interceptions per game.

SCOUTING SLIPPERY ROCK

Looking to have the PSAC West locked up heading into the Gannon matchup for the second straight season, Slippery Rock had to wait for the final second to do so, as Jake Chapla hit a 24-yard field goal as time expired to let the Rock sneak by California last Saturday 31-28.
Quarterback Roland Rivers III is the cog that makes the Rock turn, leading the nation in passing efficiency (195.1) and passing touchdowns (32) while ranking second in total offense (370.7).
While SRU is busy rolling up 47.0 points per game on offense, the defense still boasts some healthy numbers, allowing less than 300 yards per game, only 87.0 on the ground, and 21.1 points. Chad Kuhn is seventh in Division II, averaging 1.06 sacks per game.
