SERIES HISTORY
  • All-Time Series: Edinboro leads 9-4
  • First Meeting: Sept. 27, 2008, Gannon 31, Clarion 24
  • Last Meeting: Sept. 29, 2018, Edinboro 31, Gannon 24
  • How It Happened: Gannon jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the road and forced four turnovers, but Edinboro wouldn't let the Golden Knights escape. The Fighting Scots did not hold a lead until less than two minutes were left in the game, but made that late touchdown count to secure a win. Marcus Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) rushed for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Gannon, and Martell Davis (Columbus, Ohio/Licking Heights) led the defense with 12 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception.

SCOUTING GANNON
  • Gannon rolled to a 51-35 victory over Clarion on Homecoming last Saturday, putting up 557 yards of total offense. Jimmy Keefe (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/St. Edward) threw for 368 yards and tied a school record with five touchdown passes.
  • The Golden Knight defense keeps recording takeaways. After four interceptions against Clarion, they are up to 13th in the country with 11 takeaways, and are second with nine interceptions.
  • The Gannon defense has had a knack for stepping up in big moments this season. The Golden Knights are 23rd in the nation with a 62-percent red zone defense.
  • Getting a boost from four nationally ranked teams on its 2019 slate, Gannon has the 14th-toughest completed schedule through four games, and the 24th-toughest overall schedule this season.
  • The home team has won six of the past seven meetings between the Knights and Fighting Scots.

SCOUTING CLARION
  • Edinboro enters Saturday's game at 0-4 on the season for the first time since 2015. The Scots fell to California 24-7 last weekend, and were held to 154 total yards.
  • The road hasn't been the easiest, with No. 9 Grand Valley State, East Stroudsburg and California sitting at a combined 11-1 on the season.
  • Despite playing from behind, the Edinboro defense has put up solid numbers. The unit has allowed fewer than 130 yards of rushing in three of four games, and under 255 yards passing in three of four.
  • The Fighting Scots have three different receivers averaging better than 12 yards per catch. Leading pass-catcher Ta'Nauz Gregory has pulled in 19 for 265 yards, an average of 13.9 per grab.

UP NEXT
  • The Golden Knights hit the road for the first time in October next week, heading to Seton Hill Oct. 12.
  • The game kicks off at 4 p.m. from the Griffins' Offutt Field.
