  • How It Happened: Gannon got its first on-field victory in the series against the Vulcans behind 276 rushing yards from Marcus Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) and a bruising effort from the Golden Knight defense. After Cal U's opening drive, Gannon held the hosts to just 260 yards of offense on 52 plays the rest of the way.

SCOUTING GANNON
  • Seton Hill managed to score eight points in the final minute of the game to secure a comeback 25-21 victory on its homecoming against Gannon last week.
  • Jimmy Keefe (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/St. Edward) completed 21-of-30 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns in one of his best games of the season.
  • A third-quarter fumble pushed Gannon's streak of forcing a turnover to seven games dating back to last season. The Golden Knights have forced 14 turnovers on the year, a mark that is 21st in the nation.
  • Gannon held SHU to 75.0 percent in the red zone, which bumped the Knights' season percentage to 63.3 percent, but also moved them up to 16th in the country in the category.
  • Jayden Ashby (Kensington, Md./The Avalon School) and A.J. Satcher (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) are tied with three interceptions each on the season, putting them tied for 20th in the nation and second in the PSAC. The team overall is third in the country with 11 interceptions.
  • Jimmy Keefe (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/St. Edward) is coming off a day with 300 passing yards, three touchdowns and a 70-percent completion rate. The quarterback is seventh in Division II with 16.06 yards per completion.
  • His favorite target Joey Cox (Costa Mesa, Calif./Calvary Chapel) sits inside the top 15 in the PSAC in receiving yards (432), yards per game (72.0) and catches per game (4.3).
 
SCOUTING CALIFORNIA
  • The Cal U offense outgained Clarion 468-305 to help pick up a 35-20 homecoming victory over the Golden Eagles on Saturday. Despite losing the turnover battle 3-1, the Vulcans defense held down Clarion with a strong second half, forcing three punts, two turnovers on downs and an interception.
  • That California defense has been putting up strong numbers all season, leading the country with just 34.2 rushing yards per game allowed and standing second with four defensive scores.
  • The trio of Israel Xavier, Julian Cox and Gerald Brown are all in the top eight in the PSAC in
  • tackles for loss, and all in the top 10 in sacks.

  • The Golden Knights start a stretch of three of their final four games on the road, heading to No. 22 Indiana (Pa.) next week.
