Gannon Men’s Water Polo Wins Both Matches in Penn State Behrend Open

  • The Short Story: Fresh off an emotional Senior Night at home, the Gannon men's water polo team defeated Salem, 9-5, in their first match of the day at the Penn State Behrend Open.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon outscored Salem by an 8-4 margin in the first half and a 10-8 margin in the second half.
  • Thomas Squeglia (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) scored the first goal of the game for Gannon in the first quarter.
  • The Golden Knights scored four of the first five goals of the game.
  • Gannon opened the second half with five straight goals, with two coming from Thomas Squeglia (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and the others coming from coming from Robert Bolmanski (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Drago Marjanovic (Belgrade, Serbia/North Allegheny (Pa.)) and Zarko Sadikovic (Nis, Serbia/GTS Neimar).

  • Tony Squeglia, Marjanovic, John Vieira (Erie, Pa/Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy (McDowell)), Thomas Uht (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), Lucas Petzold (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) and Robert Bolmanski (Erie, Pa./McDowell) all scored for Gannon in the opening flurry.
  • The Golden Knights held a 10-3 lead at halftime.
  • Gannon scored 10 more goals in the second half with five coming in both the third and fourth quarters.
