Gannon Men’s Water Polo Goes 3-0 at Connecticut College Tournament

  • The Short Story: Gannon men's water polo rallied from an early first quarter deficit to earn a narrow 10-9 victory on Saturday over MIT in the Connecticut College Tournament.

  • MIT opened the match with a 5-1 lead before Gannon countered with three goals to cut the deficit to 5-4. Riley Hinkley (Meshoppen, Pa./Princeton) scored twice and Marjanovic notched a goal with less than a minute remaining in the first half to bring the Golden Knights to within one.
  • The Golden Knights outscored MIT 4-2 in the third period to take a one goal lead. Sadikovic scored a 5-meter penalty shot, which was one of the Golden Knights four tallies in the frame.
  • Thomas Squeglia (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) netted the game-winning goal with 32 seconds to play.

  • Sadikovic and Thomas Squeglia (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) notched goals for Gannon in the third quarter as the Golden Knights outscored CLU 2-0 in the frame.  
  • Cal Lutheran outscored the Golden Knights, 4-2, in the final frame.
