The Short Story: The Gannon women's water polo team dropped a 7-4 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) contest to Mercyhurst Sunday morning at the McKendree Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mercyhurst got out to a 3-2 lead in the first period. Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County) and Francesca Williamson (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) scored goals for the Lady Knights.
The Lakers scored three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 6-2 halftime lead.
Mercyhurst scored the first goal of the third quarter, but Alison Cooney (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Ruh scored back-to-back goals to close out the period. The Lakers led 7-4 after three.
Neither team scored a goal in the fourth quarter.

GAME NOTES

Ruh wrapped up the game with two goals.
Williamson and Cooney scored one goal apiece.
Isabelle Vieira (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) made three saves in goal and had a team-high two steals.
