The Gannon softball team hosts Lake Erie in the 2018 home opener Wednesday afternoon. The doubleheader at McConnell Family Stadium is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. The Lady Knights are coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Salem Invitational in Salem, Va. after collecting wins against Salem, Chowan and Winston-Salem State. Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) (.404) leads Gannon with team-highs in hits (21), runs (13) and doubles (7). Perich owns a team-best 1.09 ERA and 2-0 record in five appearances this season. Rookie
Kaity Stocker (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) has a slugging percentage of .750 and leads the Lady Knights in RBI with 13 and home run with three. The Storm brings a 4-6 overall record to Erie on Wednesday. Senior Samantha Karako (.643) leads the team with 18 hits, one home run and nine RBI.

The Gannon acrobatics and tumbling team is set to host West Liberty Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Hammermill Center. The Lady Knights were ranked No. 6 in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling (NCATA) preseason coaches' poll, while the Hilltoppers checked in as the nation's 15th-ranked team. Gannon is 3-2 this season, narrowly falling to No. 2-ranked Oregon by just three-tenths of a point on Sunday. Freshman
Danielle Samuel (Randallstown, Md./Western School of Technology and Environmental Science) highlighted the day by scoring a perfect 9.95 out of 9.95 possible points in the open pass tumbling heat. This season, the Lady Knights started the season by claiming wins against No.11 Concorida (Wis.), No. 9 King University (Tenn.) and No. 10 Converse College for the first 3-0 start in program history.
