The Short Story: Sophomore Joseph Westrick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) took home the individual championship for the second time in three weeks as the Gannon men's cross country team finished second out of 10 teams Friday evening at the Penn State Behrend Invitational.

EVENT NOTES

Westrick won his second invitational during the first three events of the season. He previously won the season-opening Fredonia State Invitational, before placing fourth at last week's Bethany Invitational.
Gannon failed to win a team title for the first time this season after placing first at the Fredonia State and Bethany Invitationals.
Westrick's two individual titles this season represent the first two of his young two-year collegiate career.
Gannon has opened the season with three consecutive top-two finishes for the first time since 2012. The squad began that campaign with four straight top-two performances.
The Golden Knights were competing at the Penn State Behrend Invitational as a team for the first time since 2014.
Gannon competed in an 8k race for the second consecutive week after running a 5k course during the season-opener at Fredonia State.
Westrick recorded the best 8k time of his career while winning his first career 8k race.
