  • The Short Story: The Gannon Men's Water Polo team edged past Cerritos College, 11-8, in an exhibition match at the Mercyhurst Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 10.
     
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Zarko Sadikovic (Nis, Serbia/GTS Neimar) registered the first two goals of the match for Gannon.
  • Cerritos got on the board with a Julian Casillas goal, just 17 seconds remaining until the end of the first period.
  • Gilberto Millan (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Jose) put the Golden Knights up 3-1, followed by Jake Rehrer (Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills) netting a goal.
  • Gannon went to halftime up 4-2.
  • Each team tallied four goals in the third quarter, leaving Gannon with an 8-6 lead headed to the fourth quarter.
  • Nick Williams (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge Island) lined  a ball into the net to begin the fourth, he tied for a team-high three goals along with Z. Sadikovic.
  • Gannon held off Cerritos, 11-8.

  • The Short Story: The Gannon Men's Water Polo team fell in an exhibition game to the Lindenwood Lions in the final match of the Mercyhurst Invitational. 

GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lindenwood began the match with two goals before Zarko Sadikovic (Nis, Serbia/GTS Neimar) tallied back-to-back goals to tie the match.
  • The Lions held a 5-4 lead after the first period.
  • Brett Rehrer (Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills) and the Golden Knight defense held Lindenwood scoreless in the second period. Goals by Gilberto Millan (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Jose), Nick Williams (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge Island) and Thomas Squeglia (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) had the Golden Knights up 7-5 at halftime.
  • The Lions outscored the Golden Knights 5-3 in the third quarter, tying the match at 10 headed to the final quarter.
  • Lindenwood used an 8-goal fourth quarter to pull out to an 18-16 victory.
