Gannon Competitive Cheer Teams Excel at COA Midwest Championship; Finish Weekend with Zero Deductions

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Gannon competitive cheer program continued its red-hot performances last weekend at the COA Midwest Championship in Columbus, Ohio. The Gannon co-ed and all-girl teams both hit strong routines with an unbelievable zero deductions throughout the entire weekend.

Both teams competed uncontested, but were scored as part of the sessions. The co-ed team received a final event score of 89.79 percent. The Golden Knights started the weekend with an 89.68-percent grade during Saturday's action. The squad earned 9.4 out of 10 points on performance, 9.2 out of 10 points on jumps, nine out of 10 points on tosses and 8.1 out of nine points on stunts.

The co-ed team duplicated the same scores on Sunday with the exception of an improvement to 9.3 points on jumps. Combined with an increase in the dance category, the Golden Knights accumulated a Sunday score of 89.9 percent.

The all-girl team finished with a final event score of 88.20 percent. The Lady Knights' first-day performance included 9.3 out of 10 points on performance, 9.3 out of 10 points on jumps, 8.6 out of 10 points on tosses and 8.1 out of nine points on pyramid. Saturday's action resulted in an 88.14-percent grade for the first day.

Gannon's all-girl squad was able to pull off the same scores during the final day, but had its overall score for the day increase to 88.25 percent due to an increase resulting from improvement in the running tumbling category.

Both Gannon competitive cheer teams return to action Saturday, March 4 at the JAMFEST! Cool Jam in Syracuse, New York.
