GANNON (15-7, 13-5 PSAC) STORYLINES
  • Gannon can clinch the PSAC Western Division's second seed with a victory or a Mercyhurst loss at Pitt-Johnstown. A PSAC Tournament first-round bye and quarterfinal home game accompanies the second seed. Indiana (Pa.) has already clinched the West's top seed.
  • The Golden Knights are coming off a 74-67 victory at California (Pa.) last Wednesday, overcoming an 11-point first-half deficit by shooting 58 percent during the second half. The decision snapped Cal's six-game home win streak, handing the Vulcans their first loss at the Convocation Center since December 10.
  • Gannon has alternated wins and losses during the last four games after winning a season-high eight consecutive contests from January 3-25.
  • The Golden Knights won for only the fourth time in 13 games all-time on the Vulcans' home floor last Wednesday.
  • Gannon completed its first season sweep of Cal since the 2012-13 campaign.
  • Junior Zay Jackson (Queens, N.Y./Westside) has reached double digits in scoring during 21 straight games while senior Matthew Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) has done so in 19 consecutive contests.
  • In contrast to its five victories when trailing at halftime this season, Gannon has lost three contests when leading at halftime.
  • The Golden Knights are 14-1 when reaching the 70-point plateau this season and 1-6 when failing to score at least 70 points.
  • Gannon has out-rebounded its opponent by double digits nine times this season.
  • Dogan was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District II men's basketball first team released Thursday afternoon. As a result, he will now move to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
  • Gannon has a new look on the floor after replacing its top five scorers from a year ago. However, the Golden Knights returned their next five top scorers from last year's squad.
  • Head coach John T. Reilly's club returned only 28 percent (454-1,632) of its total scoring from a year ago.
  • Gannon ranks second among PSAC programs in offensive rebounds per game (14.3), second in rebounding margin (8.1), third in rebounding offense (39.7) and third in rebounding defense (31.6).

  • The Golden Knights were predicted to finish fourth in the PSAC Western Division according to the league's preseason coaches poll. The program won back-to-back PSAC Western Division regular-season championships in 2013-14 and 2014-15 while winning its second PSAC Tournament title since joining the league in 2008-09 two years ago.
  • Gannon entered the 2016-17 season 10th among all NCAA Division II programs in all-time winning percentage, beginning the season with a 1,214-689 (63.8 percent) record in 72 seasons. Reilly recorded his 180th victory at Gannon February 21 at California (Pa.), becoming the program's all-time winningest coach.
