Gannon Women’s Swimming in Third Place After Opening Day of Wooster Invite

THE RUNDOWN

Meet: Wooster Invitational
Location: Wooster, Ohio – Ellen Shapiro Natatorium and Timken Natatorium (Diving)
Competing Teams: Alderson Broaddus, Case Western Reserve, Chatham, Edinboro, Gannon, Hiram, Malone, Mount Union, Ohio Northern, Westminster and Wooster.
The Short Story: After the first day of the Wooster Invitational, the Gannon women's swimming and diving team is in third place out of 11 teams. Gannon's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and 400-Yard Medley Relay teams both placed second to highlight the opening day.

EVENT NOTES

The 200-Yard Freestyle Relay team of Celia Kottakis (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence), Ashley Rega (Independence, Ohio/Independence), Courteney Hubert (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Silvija Taraska (Wickliffe, Ohio/Lake Catholic) placed second with a season-best time of 1:38.14.
Samantha Favret (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown), Brynn Driscoll (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley), Meghan Terwilliger (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) and S. Taraska clocked a season-best time of 3:54.94 in the 400-Yard Medley Relay to place second.
Driscoll, Lilija Taraska (Wickliffe, Ohio/Lake Catholic), Terwilliger and Marissa Scott (Owego, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) all recorded season-best times in the 200-Yard IM. Driscoll had a third place finish and recorded a time of 2:11.29.
Jillian Pritchard (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and Makayla Williams (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) both clocked season-best times in the 500-Yard Freestyle. Pritchard placed third with a time of 5:12.43.
Kottakis, Hubert and Favret all swam their best times of the season in the 50-Yard Freestyle. S. Taraska was Gannon's top finisher with a third place finish (24.44).

UP NEXT

The Gannon women's swimming and diving team will return to the pool for Day Two of the Wooster Invitational on Friday, Dec. 1.
Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
The finals session starts at 6 p.m.
