Rourke Posts First Career Double-Double; Gannon Falls to Findlay in Home Opener


THE RUNDOWN
  • Score: Findlay 73, Gannon 55

  • The Short Story: Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) compiled 21 points and six rebounds against Findlay on Wednesday (Nov. 15) night but the Lady Knights couldn't overcome a hot-shooting Oiler team as Findlay posted a 73-55 victory. 
     
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Findlay began the game on a 12-0 run before Gannon got rolling. Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) tallied the first Gannon points in the Hammermill Center this season with a layup.
  • Lauren Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) pushed the Gannon run to eight points with a triple at the 1:54 mark of the quarter, Gannon down just 12-8.
  • A Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) three-pointer with just 13 ticks left on the clock tied the game up at 14 points apiece.
  • The game was tied at 16 in the early stages of the second quarter before the Oilers went on a 14-5 run, going up 30-21.
  • The Oilers went to the break with a 40-26 edge. Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) led the Lady Knights with 12 first-half points.
  • Gannon tallied 12 third-quarter points from seven different scorers. GU went to the fourth quarter down 16, 54-38.
  • The Lady Knights made a fourth-quarter run. Gannon outscored Findlay, 8-1, over the first three minutes and forty seconds of the quarter and climbed within single-digits, 55-46, after a Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) shot in the paint.
  • Gannon couldn't inch any closer, however. Findlay pushed the lead back to double-digits and took the game, 73-55.
     
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon was 19 of 53 (35.8%) from the field, while Findlay hit 23 of its 49 shots (46.9%).
  • The Lady Knights went 12-of-15 from the free throw line, an 80% clip.
  • Gannon edged Findlay, 26-22, on points in the paint and 5-4 on second-chance points.
  • Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) led all scorers with 21 points and six assists.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The 11 boards were also a career-high.
