Men's Water Polo Extends Win-Streak to Six after Day-1 of MAWPC Play

  • The Short Story: The Gannon men's water polo team won its opening Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) match against Penn State Behrend, 19-9 on Saturday (Sept. 24).

  • Marko Sadikovic (Nis, Serbia/Svetozar Markovic) and Vladimir Diaz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Copeyville) led the Golden Knights in the scoring column with five goals.
  • Joey Dempsey (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Polytechnic) assisted four goals against PSB.
  • Dempsey also collected four steals for Gannon in the win, a new career-high.
  • Eight Golden Knights got in on the scoring action, tying a season-high for GU.
  • Thomas Squeglia (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep)  collected two goals, three assists and three steals.

  • Jack Donnelly (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) scored a career-high four goals, while assisting in another goal.
  • Four Golden Knights scored multiple goals.
  • Michael Squeglia (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) turned in a goal, an assist and four steals. 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • The Golden Knights' six-game win-streak is longest streak since the 2012 season.
  • Millan reached 100 career goals in the contest and moved up to 12th all-time in Gannon's scoring list.
