HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon scored the first four goals of the contest, beginning a dominating first half. Junior Ashley Mozingo (Fallston, Md./Fallston) tallied the first three scores during the opening eight minutes and 46 seconds. All three were unassisted, including the final one that came off a free position shot.
  • Sophomore Kierstyn Haight (Oshawa, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) capped the opening run with a free position goal at the 19:13 mark.
  • Seton Hill scored its only goal of the first half with 14:54 remaining, cutting the deficit to 4-1.
  • Gannon answered with the final four goals to assume an 8-1 lead at the intermission.
  • Haight started the rally with consecutive goals to give her a first-half hat trick. Sophomore Leilani King (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) and junior Tessa Mitchell (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) added the next two scores during the final five minutes.
  • After Seton Hill scored the opening goal of the second half, Gannon countered with scores from Mozingo and Mitchell to grab its biggest lead of the afternoon at 10-2 with 18:59 to play.
  • As much as Gannon dominated the first 41 minutes, Seton Hill was as dominate during the final 19 minutes. Renee Kania ignited a string of five consecutive goals for the Griffins, cutting the deficit to 10-7 at the 11:52 mark.
  • Sophomore Kaitie Babiarz's (Alpharetta, Ga./Johns Creek) first goal of the match momentarily stopped the onslaught with 11:16 to play.
  • However, Seton Hill continued its roll with the final five goals of the contest. Allessandra Nicholas' fourth goal of the afternoon tied the match at 11 with 7:08 remaining.
  • Kania's third of the contest pushed the Griffins ahead 12-11 at the 6:56 mark.
  • Seton Hill then limited Gannon to one shot the rest of the way and iced the one-goal victory.
