HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bloomsburg scored two of the first three goals, before Gannon rattled off three straight goals to grab a 4-2 lead.
  • Junior Tessa Mitchell (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) scored Gannon's first goal and opened the run with two more. Senior Becky Hilker (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central SS) capped the mini-run with her 10th goal of the season.
  • Following a Bloomsburg score, Mitchell added two more goals to give Gannon its biggest lead of the evening at 6-3 with 3:06 left in the first half. The scores capped a 5-1 Lady Knight run that included four goals from Mitchell.
  • Bloomsburg countered with two big tallies during the final 2:42 of the opening half to cut the deficit to 6-5 at the intermission.
  • Neither team was able to generate more than two consecutive goals during the first 20 minutes of the second half. The scoreboard featured ties at eight, nine and 10 during that time span.
  • Sophomore Leilani King's (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) free-position goal with 10:15 remaining forged the final tie at 10.
  • Bloomsburg then exploded with three straight goals to grab control at 13-10 with 2:09 to play.
  • Mitchell ended Gannon's scoreless drought of nine minutes and 51 seconds on a free position shot with 24 ticks left, but it wasn't enough as Gannon fell 13-11.
