HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Gannon scored the only two runs it would need during the bottom of the first inning. Wiesen led off with a single up the middle, before DeVita drew a walk. After a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Charles Benack (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson), redshirt freshman Nate Cardy (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) lined a two-run double into the left center gap.
  • Clarion cut the deficit in half with Mike Lockhart's RBI triple during the top of the fourth inning. However, Gannon starting pitcher Santiago Mendez (Potterville, Mich./Lansing Eastern) stranded the tying run at third by striking out Austin Mike.
  • The visitors put a pair of runners on base in the fifth, but Mendez escaped again with a pop-up.
  • Junior Nico DiPaolo (Bridgeville, Pa./Bishop Canevin) closed the door by facing the minimum in the seventh inning for his sixth save of the season.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Cardy went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
  • Wiesen finished 2-for-3 with one run in the lead-off role.
  • Mendez improved to 7-1 with six innings of work, allowing three hits and no earned runs. He struck out five and walked two.
  • DiPaolo hit the second batter he faced in the seventh, before inducing a game-ending double play.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon is ranked seventh in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Regional Poll.
  • The Golden Knights scored first for the 31st time in the opening 38 games.
  • DiPaolo set a new Gannon single-season record with his sixth save. Landon Wahl (2012) and Pete Calenda (1998) held the old record of five.
  • Mendez's seven victories equal the third-highest single-season total in school history.
  • Wiesen recorded his team-best 21st multiple-hit game.
  • Cardy had his 17th multiple-hit performance and team-best 14th multiple-RBI effort.
  • Wiesen extended his hit streak to five games.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Gannon dented the scoreboard first again. Wiesen led off the bottom of the first with a hit up the middle and advanced to second base when the ball deflected off the second baseman's glove and rolled into center field. DeVita immediately followed with an RBI double to left center.
  • Clarion tied the game in the top of the third, but Gannon countered with two runs during its turn in the third. After a Wiesen double and DeVita single, Benack singled in the go-ahead run. Cardy's followed with a sacrifice fly to center that scored DeVita for a 3-1 lead.
  • Clarion knotted the contest again with two runs in the fifth.
  • Gannon redshirt freshman Marc Demilio (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) and DiPaolo were lights out the rest of the way until the Golden Knights won the game in the ninth inning.
  • Wiesen drew a one-out walk during the bottom of the frame. DeVita then ripped a double into the left center gap to score Wiesen from first base with the winning run.

GAME NOTES - GAME TWO
  • Wiesen went 3-for-4 with three runs as the lead-off hitter.
  • DeVita finished 3-for-5 with one run and two RBIs.
  • Sophomore David Cricks (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) started on the mound, logging 4 1/3 innings and allowing two earned runs on only three hits.
