HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Gannon went to work immediately during its first at-bat. Sophomore Jackie Martinez (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) led off with a triple down the left field line. Perich followed with an RBI single through the left side for a 1-0 lead.
  • The Lady Knights added a second run during the bottom of the third inning. Sophomore Allie Salerno (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) led off with a bunt single. After moving to third on a ground-out and infield single by Perich, Salerno scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Jen Moran (West Mifflin, Pa./Fox Chapel).
  • Seton Hill's big chance came during the top of the sixth inning. The Griffins loaded the bases with one out, but Gumbita escaped the jam with a strikeout and fly-out.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Perich went 3-for-3 with one RBI.
  • Salerno finished 2-for-2 with one run.
  • Gumbita tossed a six-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking only one.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gumbita recorded her sixth shutout of the season and 11th of her career.
  • Perich produced her first career three-hit game.
  • Gumbita tossed her 16th complete game of the campaign and 39th of her career.
  • Salerno posted her sixth career multiple-hit performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • As it did in the opener, Gannon struck immediately during the bottom of the first inning. After two outs, Moran singled and scored on a double to right center by senior Alyssa Bates (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield). Senior Alexa Archambeault (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) followed by beating a throw to first base after the second baseman made a diving stop on a ball hit up the middle. Meanwhile, Bates never stopped running from second and beat the throw home from the first baseman for a 2-0 lead.
  • Gannon added an insurance run during the fourth. Archambeault led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman Autumn Smith (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) and scored on sophomore Nathaly Pacheco's (Rialto, Calif./Eisenhower) double to left center.
  • Perich never let Seton Hill breathe after that, setting down the Griffins in order during the final three innings. She retired the final 11 batters of the game.
