GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Gannon wasted little time getting into the scoring column as sophomore Allie Salerno (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) blasted a lead-off home run during the top of the first inning.
  • However, Concord starting pitcher Aarron Ward blanked the Lady Knights the rest of the way. The scoreless innings enabled the Mountain Lions to forge ahead with three runs during the bottom of the fourth inning.
  • Concord tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Salerno finished 2-for-3 with one home run, one run and one RBI out of the lead-off spot of the lineup.
  • Junior Olivia Gumbita (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) dropped to 6-2 while tossing a complete game, allowing four earned runs while striking out three.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gumbita recorded her 31st career complete game and eighth of the season.
  • Salerno produced the fifth multiple-hit game of her career.
  • Gumbita's scoreless streak ended at 16 innings when Concord scored with two outs in the fourth.
  • Salerno hit her first career home run during the first inning.
  • Gumbita walked her first batter in 24 innings with a two-out free pass in the second.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Gannon took out its frustrations from the first game on Glenville State early and often. The Lady Knights produced a 12-0 lead after two innings, exploding for seven runs in the first and five in the second.
  • The first inning saw seven runs scored on only three hits thanks to three walks and one error.
  • A two-run double by sophomore Nathaly Pacheco (Rialto, Calif./Eisenhower) and an RBI single by senior Alyssa Bates (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) were the big hits. The other four runs scores on a fielder's choice, throwing error and wild pitch.
  • Gannon put the game out of reach during its second at-bat, scoring five runs on only three hits again. Run-producing hits included an RBI double by Bates and RBI single by Pacheco. The other runs scored on a passed ball, fielder's choice and bases-loaded walk to senior Alexa Archambeault (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads).
  • Concord got on the board with a pair of runs during the bottom of the third inning, before Gannon countered with the game's final run in the fourth. Freshman Ashley Bower (Middleport, N.Y./Royalton-Hartland) reached on an error and scored on sophomore Katie Eckelberry's (Uniontown, Ohio/North Canton Hoover) two-out infield single.

GAME NOTES - GAME TWO
  • Pacheco went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs.
  • Bates finished 2-for-2 with one run and two RBIs.
  • Junior Jen Moran (West Mifflin, Pa./Fox Chapel) completed Gannon's trio of multiple-hit performances with a 2-for-2 showing and two runs.
  • Freshman Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) started the nightcap on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits in three innings. She struck out two and walked one, but didn't receive the pitching decision after failing to complete the mandated four innings.
  • Senior Alison Benz (Orchard Park, N.Y./Mount Mercy Academy) picked up the victory with two scoreless innings of relief, surrendering only one hit and striking out one.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon reached double digits in runs for the second time this season.
  • The Lady Knights' seven-run first inning represented their biggest outburst since plating seven runs during the fourth inning of an 18-3 victory at Clarion on April 18, 2015.
  • Benz made her second consecutive scoreless relief appearance.
  • Pacheco entered the game with one RBI this season, before driving home three runs and scoring a season-best two runs during her second multiple-hit game.
  • Bates produced her third multiple-hit game and third multiple-RBI performance of the campaign.
  • Moran had multiple efforts in both categories for the second time this year.
  • Nineteen Lady Knights saw action in the nightcap.
