HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • After three scoreless innings, Le Moyne scored three times during the bottom of the fourth inning. The Dolphins produced the runs with a fielder's choice, error and ground-out.
  • Gannon managed its only run during the top of the sixth inning. Freshman Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) led off with a single and moved to second base on a throwing error. Two batters later, Perich scored on a single by sophomore Jackie Martinez (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep).
  • The Lady Knights had a chance to tie the game after putting runners on second and third after another Dolphin error, but Le Moyne starter Alexis Eastman got out of the jam with a pop-up and ground-out.
  • Eastman then retired Gannon in order during the top of the seventh inning to secure the victory.

GAME NOTES
  • Junior Jen Moran (West Mifflin, Pa./Fox Chapel), Martinez and Perich recorded Gannon's three hits.
  • Junior Olivia Gumbita (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) tossed a four-hitter, but still fell to 6-3. She allowed two earned runs, struck out six and walked none.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gumbita recorded her 32nd career complete game and ninth of the season.
  • Perich scored her first career run during the sixth inning.
  • Gumbita didn't walk a batter for the sixth time in nine starts.

  • Gannon is 79-49 all-time against Mercyhurst.
  • The Lady Knights took three of four games against the Lakers last season, including a doubleheader sweep at McConnell Family Stadium.
