GANNON (4-2, 3-1 PSAC) STORYLINES
  • Gannon enters Wednesday's non-conference game riding a high after sweeping Lock Haven (81-70) and Bloomsburg (79-66) last weekend at the Hammermill Center.
  • Senior Matthew Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) was named PSAC Western Division Player of the Week after averaging 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists in two games. He recorded his second career double-double against Lock Haven (17 points and 10 rebounds) before pouring in a career-high 25 points against Bloomsburg.
  • Jimmy Berger (Medina, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) was named PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week after averaging nine points, 8.5 assists and six rebounds during the weekend sweep. He committed only four turnovers in 64 minutes at point guard, producing a 4.25 assist-to-turnover ratio.
  • The Golden Knights have produced a 78-32 edge in points in the paint during the last two games.
  • Berger's double-double against Bloomsburg is the first not involving only points and rebounds by a Golden Knight since Joe Lindsay had 16 points and 11 assists against Findlay in the NCAA Division II Tournament second round on March 16, 2008. It was the first double-double by a Golden Knight using assists and rebounds since Javar Cheatham had 20 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds during an 89-80 home victory against Ferris State on January 18, 2001.
  • Gannon's produced its best shooting percentage since hitting 61.8 percent (34-55) of its shots during an 82-69 road victory at Lock Haven on February 23, 2013.
  • Berger's 12 assists were the most by a Golden Knight since Corey Knight had 12 during an 85-66 home win against Indiana (Pa.) on February 19, 2007
  • Gannon has a new look on the floor after replacing its top five scorers from a year ago. However, the Golden Knights returned their next five top scorers from last year's squad.
  • Head coach John T. Reilly's club returned only 28 percent (454-1,632) of its total scoring from a year ago.
  • Gannon leads the PSAC in rebounding offense (41.7), rebounding defense (28.2), rebounding margin (13.5) and offensive rebounds per game (14.3).
  • Junior Damon Miraud (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) sits second among PSAC players in offensive rebounds per game (3.5), third in total rebounds per game (9.7) and sixth in defensive rebounds per game (6.2).
  • Berger ranks third among conference players in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5) and fifth in assists per game (5.5).
  • The Golden Knights were predicted to finish fourth in the PSAC Western Division according to the league's preseason coaches poll. The program won back-to-back PSAC Western Division regular-season championships in 2013-14 and 2014-15 while winning its second PSAC Tournament title since joining the league in 2008-09 two years ago.
  • Gannon entered the 2016-17 season 10th among all NCAA Division II programs in all-time winning percentage, beginning the season with a 1,214-689 (63.8 percent) record in 72 seasons. More recently, the Golden Knights were 27th among Division II programs with a .693 winning percentage (203-90) during the 2000s.
  • Reilly entered the 2016-17 season 26th among active NCAA Division II coaches in career victories (423) and 61st in career winning percentage (.611). He became the 30th active NCAA Division II coach to record 400 career wins December 17, 2014 against West Chester. Reilly recorded his 180th victory at Gannon February 21 at California (Pa.), becoming the program's all-time winningest coach.
