The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball team opened the second-half of the 2015-16 season with an 85-76 victory over Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup Sunday afternoon in Kutztown.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The opening minutes of the game saw two ties, before Gannon took a 12-9 lead with 5:12 left in the first quarter.
  • Kutztown went on a 4-0 run including a lay-up from Jenna Altomare to give the Golden Bears a 13-12 advantage.
  • Senior Morgan Neighbors sank a three-pointer with 3:26 left on the clock to give the Lady Knights back the lead, 17-13.
  • Kelsey Watson closed the first quarter sinking a jumper to tie the game at 19-19.
  • Senior Jennie Thies gave the Lady Knights the 21-19 lead hitting the opening lay-up in the second quarter.
  • The Golden Bears again tied the game with a jumper from Watson with 8:53 left in the quarter.
  • Kutztown went on an 11-0 run before freshman Lauren Tewes would hit a lay-up with 4:34 on the clock.
  • The Lady Knights went into the locker room trailing 38-32, after senior LaShawna Gatewood tallied five points, including a three-pointer.
  • Gannon chipped away at Kutztown's lead, which included six points from Thies and three from senior Morgan Neighbors, 45-43 with 5:29 left in the third.

  • The Golden Bears tied the game, 64-64, as Watson sank both free throws with 3:19 left in the game.
  • A lay-up from junior Brianna Brennan gave Gannon a 66-64 lead, before Kutztown tied and took the lead again from Watson sinking a lay-up and a free throw.
  • With 58 seconds left in the game, Thies sank a lay-up to tie the game, 68-68.
  • Kutztown tied the game and took the lead 70-69, but Brennan sank a free throw to send the game into overtime.
  • Ellerbrock sank back-to-back three pointers to lead 76-70 with 3:23 left in overtime.
  • Keifonna Ferguson pulled the Golden Bears within four, 76-72 of Gannon.
  • The Lady Knights closed the game going on a 9-4 run for the 85-76 victory.

GAME NOTES:
  • Senior Jennie Thies recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a team-high 24 points and 16 boards.
  • Two other Lady Knights also recorded double-digit figures, with Morgan Neighbors chipping in with 20 points and Brianna Brennan with 14 points and four blocks.
  • Sophomore McKenna Shives recorded seven points and six assists.
  • Gannon shot 46.9 percent (30-64) from the field, 41.2 (7-17) from beyond the arc and was 18-28 (64.3 percent) from the free throw line.
  • Kutztown was led by Kelsey Watson with 24 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists, while Natalya Lee chipped in with 12 points and Jenna Altomare added 16 points.
  • The Golden Bears shot 41.7 percent (30-72) from the field, 70.6 percent (12-17) from the free throw line and were 4-of-13 from beyond the arc.
