  • The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball teamcompleted a season sweep of rival Edinboro, 60-48, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game at the Hammermill Center on Wednesday evening. The squads first sweep since the 2009-19 NCAA Division II Final Four squad.

GAMEDAY MEDIA:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Jennie Thies put Gannon on the scoreboard first with the opening lay-up, but Edinboro responded going on a 9-2 run, which included back-to-back three-pointers from Lauren Hippo for a 9-4 lead.
  • The Lady Knights began to chip away at the Fighting Scots lead which included a lay-up and jumper from Brianna Brennan and Morgan Neighbors to trail, 9-8 with 4:54 left in the first quarter.
  • A three-pointer from Neighbors would tie the game at 13-13 with 12 seconds remaining in the quarter, before Aignee' Freeland gave Edinboro the 15-13 lead.
  • McKenna Shives gave the Lady Knights the 17-15 lead, 8:50 into the second quarter, before Edinboro tied the game off a Whitney Allen jumper with 7:46 remaining.
  • The Lady Knights closed the half going on a 7-3 run to go into the locker room leading 23-23.
  • Gannon opened the third quarter going on a 5-0 run to lead, 29-23.
  • The Fighting Scots pulled within four of Gannon, 31-27, with 5:06 left in the third quarter, before Gannon went on a small 9-2 run.
  • Edinboro closed the third quarter trailing Gannon 40-38, as Michelle Jahn hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining.
  • Leading 44-40 with 6:03 left in the game, Hippo sank a three-pointer to pull the Fighting Scots within one.
  • Neighbors hit a three-pointer to give Gannon a 49-43 lead with 4:19 left on the clock.
  • The Lady Knights scored their last nine points from the free throw line, as they secured the 60-48 victory and the season sweep of Edinboro.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Senior Jennie Thies recorded her 10th double-double of the season, with a career-high 21 rebounds and added 17 points.
  • Senior Morgan Neighbors chipped in with 15 points and was 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, while sophomore McKenna Shives added 10 points.
  • Thies is ranked 13th all-time in Gannon history with 580 total rebounds and is ranked 16th with 239 rebounds this season.
  • Neighbors ranks 29th all-time at Gannon with 895 points, and is eighth in three-pointers made with 157.
  • Gannon shot 38 percent (19-50) from the field, 40. (6-15) from beyond the arc and were 72.7 percent (16-22) from the free throw line.
  • Gannon hasn't swept Edinboro in a season since, the 2009-10 season, when the Lady Knights defeated Edinboro in all three games.
  • Edinboro was led by Michelle Jahn with a team-high 16 points, while Katie Fischer and Lauren Hippo chipped in with 11 points each.
  • The Fighting Scots were 31 percent (18-58) from the field, 37.5 percent (9-24) and 27.3 (3-11) from the charity stripe.
