The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball was unable to stop a fourth quarter surge by Indiana (Pa.), as they fell 53-47, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division matchup at the Kovalchick Complex in Indiana, Pa.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Gannon jumped out to a 6-0 lead, before Indiana (Pa.) was able to find the hoop at the 6:53 mark off a three-pointer from Leslie Stapleton.
• The Lady Knights extended their lead, 12-5, with a lay-up from senior Jennie Thies at the 3:41 mark of the first quarter.
• The Crimson Hawks began to chip away at Gannon's lead, going on a 7-0 run to tie the game 12-12 with 1:36 remaining.
• Gannon took back the lead off free throws from Brianna Brennan, but IUP closed the quarter at the line to head into the second quarter all tied up at 14.
• Trailing 19-15, a Thies lay-up pulled the Lady Knights within two, 19-17, before a lay-up from senior Amanda Bechtold sparked a 4-0 run to give the Lady Knights a 23-19 lead with 4:38 left in the second quarter.
• IUP went on a 5-0 run to go into the locker room trailing Gannon by one, 24-23.
• The two teams exchanged points before Gannon took a 34-30 lead with 3:09 left in the third quarter.
• IUP responded with a 4-0 run of their own to tie the game, but a lay-up from sophomore McKenna Shives gave Gannon back the lead, 36-34.
• With two seconds remaining in the third, Alexis Aiken got the steal and lay-up to send the Crimson Hawks and Lady Knights into the fourth tied at 36.
• Brennan hits a lay-up sevens seconds into the fourth quarter, as Gannon took a 38-36 lead.
• IUP responded with a lay-up from Zhane Brooks to again tie the game up.
• Gannon took their last lead of the game at the 3:37 mark, 44-43, before IUP went on a 9-0 run to take a 52-44 lead and the final 53-47.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

• Senior Jennie Thies recorded her 11th double-double of the season, with 17 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.
• Senior Morgan Neighbors chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.
• Gannon shot 36.2 percent (17-47) from the field, 8.3 percent (1-12) from beyond the arc, and was 80 percent (12-15) from the free throw line.
• Indiana was led by Leslie Stapleton with a team-high 17 points and was 4-of-9 from three-point range. 
• Zhane Brooks chipped in with 14 points, five assists and three blocks.
• The Crimson Hawks were 33.3 percent (18-54) from the field, 28.6 (6-21) from three-point land, and was 55 percent (11-20) from the free throw line.
