Short Story: Winners of five consecutive games, the Gannon women's basketball team travels to Seton Hill Saturday afternoon for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division matchup at the McKenna Center. The tip is set for 1 p.m. The Lady Knights earned a share of second place in the Western Division following a 71-63 win over No. 24 California (Pa.) Jan. 22, at the Hammermill Center. GU has won eight of their last nine games. The Griffins have won three of their last four contests to occupy sixth place in the divisional standings. In the all-time series, the Lady Knights enter the game with a perfect 4-0 mark intact including two victories on the road.

SCOUTING SETON HILL
- Seton Hill has won three of their last four games in PSAC action. The Griffins hold sixth place in the divisional standings with a 5-8 mark and an 8-10 overall record.
- Following a five-game stretch at home, the Griffins captured a 70-68 road victory over Western Division foe Mercyhurst Jan. 21. In a key battle for sixth place in the division, the Griffins were able to seal the win with less than 30 seconds off a forced turnover and layup by Mariah Wells. Chelsea Apke recorded a double-double in her third consecutive game. Head coach Mark Katarski missed the contest due to an illness, which left his assistant coaches to fill in.
- Among PSAC team leaders, the Griffins rank ninth in scoring offense (66.8) and 12th in scoring defense (65.1). In the PSAC, the Griffs ranks fourth in both turnover margin (3.00) and steals per game (11.44) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (.345).
- The Griffins' offense is led by Meghan Mastroianni with 9.9 points per game. Apke is averaging 8.6 points and 9.2 rebounds to rank fifth among conference leaders in the category.
 
SERIES HISTORY
- Gannon holds a 4-0 mark in the all-time series against Seton Hill. The Lady Knights have won two games each at home and on the road against the Griffins.
- During the Griffins' inaugural season in the PSAC last year, the Lady Knights swept the regular-season series.
- The Lady Knights have defeated the Griffins by double figures in each of their meetings.
 
LOOKING BACK
Gannon defeated No. 24 California (Pa.), 71-63, Thursday evening at the Hammermill Center in PSAC Western Division action. Beyond the outcome, both teams played with heavy hearts. The game marked the first for the Vulcans since the loss of senior Shanice Clark, who passed away last weekend. The Lady Knights captured their fifth straight victory and eighth consecutive win at the Hammermill Center this season. Four Lady Knights finished with double figures. Senior Nettie Blake (Jersey City, N.J./Marist) led the Lady Knights with 19 points and nine rebounds. Junior Morgan Neighbors (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South) and senior Mollie Sebald (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Holy Name) each scored 14 points followed by senior Candice Hendricks (Randallstown, Md./McDonogh) with 12 points. Hendricks and Neighbors each tied season highs.
 
NEXT UP
The Lady Knights round out the first round of meetings with divisional opponents against Seton Hill. The Lady Knights circle back around in the divisional schedule with a trip to Slippery Rock Jan. 28. GU closes the month of January at home when they host crosstown-rival Mercyhurst in the annual Pink Zone game Jan. 31.  
 
D2SIDA REGIONAL RANKINGS
For the second straight week, the Lady Knights occupied fourth place in the latest Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Atlantic Region Media Poll released Jan. 19. In back-to-back weeks, California (Pa.) (14-2) held its spot atop the regional ranking by claiming two of the first-place votes. Indiana (Pa.) (15-1) followed closely behind in second with one first-place nod. IUP's lone loss this season came at the hands of top-ranked California (Pa.). Bloomsburg (13-2), Gannon (11-4), West Chester (13-3) and Livingstone (N.C.) (16-0) rounded out the top five in the media poll. West Chester and Livingstone shared fifth place. West Liberty (W.Va.) (11-5), Edinboro (12-5), Johnson C. Smith (N.C.) (15-2) and Fairmont State (W.Va.) (13-3) completed the top 10.
 
RECORD CHASER
Blake continues to climb her way up the program's all-time list in multiple categories. Among all-time career leaders in program history, Blake ranks fourth in most free throw attempts (507), fifth in most rebounds (890), seventh in most free throws made (321), 10th in most field goals (520) and most points (1,361) and tied for 12th in blocked shots (76). Averaging 7.9 rebounds per game in her career, she ranks fifth on the program's all-time list.
 
FROM OUTSIDE
Senior Brittany Batts (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) occupies second all-time at Gannon with 262 career three-pointers. Batts needs 38 to break Jacki Windon's school record of 299. In an 82-43 win over Cheyney Dec. 20, she became the 26th Lady Knight in school history to record 1,000-career points. So far, she has compiled 1,032 career points.
 
FAST BREAK POINTS
- Among the PSAC leaders, Gannon ranks eighth in both scoring offense (68.8) and defense (62.9). On the glass, the Lady Knights occupy third in rebounding defense (35.9) and sixth in rebounding offense (41.5) for a second-ranked rebounding margin of 5.6.
- The Lady Knights rank fourth in the PSAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.00), while recording 243 turnovers to ranks second in the league.
- In the conference, junior Amanda Berchtold (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) is tied for first in assist/turnover ratio (2.9) and shares third in assists per game (4.6). Berchtold enters the week ranked third in assist/turnover ratio among national leaders.
- Among PSAC rebounding leaders, Blake ranks first in rebounds per game (10.8) and third in total rebounds (172). Among national leaders, Blake ranks 11th in offensive rebounds per game and 23rd in rebounds per game entering this week.
