The Short Story: The Gannon men's water polo team earned a split to wrap up its time at the Navy Open Sunday in Lejuene Hall "A". The Golden Knights began the day with a 16-11 loss to Lindenwood before rebounding with a 16-9 victory over California Institute of Technology. Following the opening weekend, the Golden Knights hold a 2-2 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED- To open the match, the Lindenwood Lions secured a 6-3 lead in the first quarter. Heading into the break, the Gannon Golden Knights trailed the Lions, 11-5. The Golden Knights managed to outscore the Lions in the second half by a 6-5 margin, but GU was unable to erase the deficit.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Golden Knights pounced on an early 6-1 first-quarter lead against the California Institute of Technology Beavers. The five-goal cushion provided the Golden Knights with a safe lead that the team was able to play with throughout the match.
- Cal Tech managed to outscore the Golden Knights in the second quarter, but lagged behind by the score of 9-5 at the break.
- To open the second half, the Golden Knights smothered the Beavers with four goals to push their lead to 13-6. In the third, the two teams exchanged three goals each.
- Yuval led the Golden Knights' attack with four goals, scoring 13 total tallies at the Navy Open. Millan and junior
Adam Wolf (Worthington, Ohio / Thomas Worthington) each netted a trio of scores. Freshman
Nick Williams (Bainbridge Island, Wash. / Bainbridge Island) added a pair of goals.
- Schneider and Fagen combined for a solid outing in goal, compiling 11 total blocks. Schneider opened the match with five first-half saves before Fagen took over to seal the win with six blocks in the second half.
