Gannon Men's Soccer Team Drops Non-Conference Match at Cedarville

THE RUNDOWN
  • Final Score: at Cedarville 2, Gannon 0

  • The Short Story: Cedarville scored early in the 14th minute and added an insurance goal in the 81st minute to shut out Gannon 2-0 Tuesday night in a non-conference match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cedarville scores the first goal on its fourth shot of the match. Christian Alexander netted his second goal of the season 13:34 into the affair, spinning in the box and finishing into the lower part of the goal. Paul Messerly was credited with the assist.
  • The Yellow Jackets added an insurance goal with 9:28 left in regulation. After an initial shot ripped off the crossbar, Connor Scott headed the rebound into the net for a 2-0 lead. Connor Gilmore and Ethan Lee assisted on the final score.

GAME NOTES
  • Redshirt sophomore Matthew Dixon (Durban, South Africa/Westville Boys) recorded five saves in goal, finishing one shy of his season-high.
  • Senior Robbie Bennett (Durban, South Africa/St. Benedict School) led Gannon with four shots.
  • Cedarville out-shot Gannon 17-11.
  • Gannon was whistled for 15 fouls compared to Cedarville's 8.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon was shut out for the second consecutive match and third time this season.
