Gannon’s Yuval Selected All-CWPA Southern Division Second Team

ERIE, Pa. – Senior Raz Yuval (Kibbutz Yagur, Israel/Carmel Zvulun) of the Gannon men's water polo team was named to the All-Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division Second Team announced by the association Friday.

Competing in 17 matches this season, Yuval led the Golden Knights in goals (49), assists (39) and steals (57). His performance placed him in a tie for eighth on the program's all-time single-season goals list. In addition, he ranked sixth on the school's single-season assists list and seventh on the program's single-season steals list. He registered multiple goals in 13 matches this campaign, scoring a hat trick in 10 of those matches.

Competing for the Golden Knights in two seasons after transferring from Diablo Valley (Calif.) College, Yuval finished his career with 120 goals, 77 assists and 139 steals. Among the all-time career leaders in program history, he finished seventh in goals and eighth in total assists, while earning a share of sixth in career steals.

The Kibbutz, Israel, native owns the program's single-match goal record after scoring 11 tallies in a 21-12 win over Salem International on Sept. 22, 2013. In his career, he has garnered three CWPA weekly honors, all three in the form of Southern Division Rookie of the Week awards.

At the 2014 CWPA Division II Championship Oct. 18, held at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion, Yuval helped guide the host Golden Knights to its first team title in program history. Compiling three goals, five steals and four assists against Salem International and reigning champion Mercyhurst, the senior earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

Head coach Don Sherman and the Golden Knights concluded the season with an 8-9 overall mark. The team collected a seventh-place finish in consecutive seasons at the CWPA Southern Division Championship. In the final match at the divisional championship, the Golden Knights relied on a five-goal fourth-quarter run to capture a 14-12 victory over rival Mercyhurst. The Golden Knights rallied for the second time this season past the crosstown Lakers after earning a comeback victory to claim the CWPA Division II Championship.
