GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bloomsburg drew first blood on Spencer Conrad's third goal of the season 2:16 into the second half. Brett Milden made the initial drive to the center of the box, before passing back to Conrad at the top of the box.
  • Gannon almost tied the match at 60:42, but Bennett's attempt was punched away by a diving Bloomsburg goalkeeper.
  • Less than a minute later, redshirt senior Tyron Springer's (Johannesburg, South Africa/St. David's Marist Inanda) header into an empty net was knocked away by a Bloomsburg defender.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Manuel Mangu (Maple Ridge, British Columbia/Garibaldi Secondary School) kept Gannon within a goal after a spectacular diving save in the 68th minute.
  • Bennett knotted the contest at one in the 70th minute. The senior forward received a long pass from senior Ryan Mershimer (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) on the far wing. After drawing the goalkeeper out of the goal, he dribbled around the last line of defense and scored into the lower left side of the net.
  • Gannon had one last chance in regulation, but sophomore Sergio Kobowane's (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edward VII) close scoring attempt was tipped away by a Bloomsburg defender.
  • Bloomsburg needed only 38 seconds to end the contest once it reached overtime. Anthony Cerda fed Conrad, who put a ball past the Gannon goalkeeper and into the lower left side of the net from the opposite side of the box.

GAME NOTES
  • Gannon controlled the scoreless first half with a 6-2 edge in shots. Bloomsburg rebounded with an 11-6 advantage during the second half and overtime.
  • The home-standing Huskies took eight corner kicks compared to one for Gannon. Six of Bloomsburg's corner kicks came during the second half.
  • Bloomsburg is ranked fourth in the latest NSCAA Atlantic regional rankings. In addition, the Huskies were listed among others receiving votes in the NSCAA national rankings.
  • Mangu made his first career collegiate appearance, turning away two shots during a starting assignment in goal.
  • Mershimer dished out his first assist of the season and the third of his career.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon lost a road overtime match for the first time since 2011. The Golden Knights were 4-0-1 during their last five overtime matches on the road.
  • Bennett's 43rd career goal moved him out of a tie with Dag Magnusson (1993-96) and into sole possession of seventh place all-time at Gannon.
  • Bennett became the 10th Golden Knight in school history to record 100 career points, producing his 101th career point Wednesday afternoon. Bennett can jump into eighth place past Afrim Latifi (2007-10) and current assistant coach Dan Howell (2005-09) with three more points.
  • Gannon and Bloomsburg entered the day in a four-way tie for first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The loss dropped the Golden Knights into a three-way tie with West Chester and Slippery Rock for fourth place.
  • Bloomsburg defeated Gannon for only the second time in 14 all-time meetings. The Huskies had dropped 12 straight decisions against the Golden Knights. Bloomsburg's only prior victory against Gannon was a 1-0 shutout during the first-ever meeting between the two programs in 1992.
