The Gannon men's basketball team begins a brief two-game road swing Saturday, January 29 at Clarion. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Gannon dropped to 9-7 overall and 1-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division with a 68-64 overtime loss to Mercyhurst Wednesday night at the Hammermill Center. It marked only the fourth time since 1998 the Golden Knights have suffered consecutive home losses. The program is now 28-4 in the next home game following a home loss since the 1998-99 season.
Head coach
John T. Reilly will reach a coaching milestone with a victory. He enters the contest with a 99-63 record in six seasons at Gannon, needing one more win to become the fifth men's basketball coach in school history to record 100 career victories. He is 331-208 in 18 seasons overall at Gannon and Brescia.
Clarion has won back-to-back games against Indiana (Pa.) (73-68) and Lock Haven (111-38). The victory at IUP snapped the Crimson Hawks' 30-game home win streak. Clarion enters Saturday's contest with a 12-4 overall record and 3-2 PSAC Western Division mark.
Gannon has won seven of the last eight meetings against Clarion and leads the all-time series 24-12. The Golden Knights salvaged a season split last season with a 66-65 overtime victory at home on a buzzer-beater. Gannon is 17-3 all-time against Clarion at home and 7-9 at the W.S. Tippin Gymnasium.
