Gannon Men's Basketball Team Hosts California (Pa.) Saturday Afternoon on Hall of Fame Day

Sophomore Clinton Springer-Williams and the Gannon men's basketball team have their sights set on an 11th consecutive home victory.
The Gannon men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the Hammermill Center Saturday, January 22 against California (Pa.). Tip-off for Gannon's Hall of Fame Game is scheduled for 3 p.m. The 2011 Gannon Athletics Hall of Fame Class will be honored at halftime, before being inducted Saturday night.  The Class consists of eight individuals and the 1962 bowling team. Former men's basketball great Steve Moyer is among the latest inductees.

Gannon dropped to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division with a 70-62 loss at Edinboro Wednesday night. The Golden Knights have won 10 consecutive home games dating back to last season, including a sparkling 8-0 mark the Hammermill Center this season. The home winning streak is the program's longest since ending the 2008-09 campaign with a 13-game streak.

Head coach John T. Reilly will reach a coaching milestone with a victory. He enters the contest with a 99-61 record in six seasons at Gannon, needing one more win to become the fifth men's basketball coach in school history to record 100 career victories. He is 331-206 in 18 seasons overall at Gannon and Brescia.

California (Pa.) rides a two-game losing streak into Saturday's contest after losses to Mercyhurst (73-62) and Indiana (Pa.) (77-58). The Vulcans own an 8-6 overall record and 1-2 conference mark. The squad began the season 5-1, but has since dropped five of its last eight contests.

Gannon has won three consecutive  games against California (Pa.) at the Hammermill Center and is 9-1 all-time against the Vulcans at the 'Mill. Overall, the Golden Knights own a slight 10-6 edge in the all-time series. The two programs have split the last six meetings.
