ANNAPOLIS, M.D. - The Gannon men's water polo team lost 22-3 at the hands of NCAA Division I Bucknell University Saturday afternoon at the U.S Naval Academy Tournament.
The Golden Knights were held scoreless during the first quarter facing a 4-0 deficit. The Bison doubled their lead after posting five goals to Gannon's one in the second quarter. Bucknell put the game out of reach during the second half, out-scoring Gannon 8-2 in the third quarter and 5-0 in the fourth quarter.
Freshman Tytus Kwiatkowski (Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North), senior Stephen Espinet (Port of Spain, Trinidad / Maple Leaf) and junior Phil Myrick (Erie, Pa. / Cathedral Prep) each scored a goal in the loss.
Sophomore Neal Zoellick (Homewood, Ill. / Homewood-Flossmoor) had seven saves in the match.
Gannon falls to 0-2 on the year while Bucknell stands at 2-0. Gannon will wrap up tournament play Sunday with games against Lindenwood University (Mo.) (10:30 a.m.) and Johns Hopkins University (2:15 p.m.).
