The Gannon men's basketball team concludes a brief Ohio road swing Tuesday, December 7 when it plays at 2010 NCAA Division II Tournament participant Central State. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Gannon suffered its first loss of the season last Saturday with a 79-70 loss at NCAA Division II Independent Urbana. The Golden Knights rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to tie the game with 6:28 left in regulation, before dropping their sixth consecutive road game dating back to last season.
Central State returns seven letterwinners and three starters from last year's 22-6 team that fell to Bellarmine (Ky.) in the first round of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional last season.
The Gannon-Central State series was a highly-contest one until it ended in the late 1980s. Tuesday's meeting will be the first between the two clubs since the 1988-89 campaign. Central State leads the all-time series 6-5 and is a perfect 4-0 against the Golden Knights at home. The 1987-88 Gannon team that advanced to the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals dropped a 102-88 overtime decision at Central State in the last game played between the two teams in Wilberforce, Ohio.
