Gannon Swimming and Diving Hosts Meet at Cap Saturday Afternoon

Sam Bluhm won two events against Canisius last weekend.
ERIE, Pa.- The Gannon men's and women's swimming and diving teams host a meet Saturday, November 7. The men face Niagara and the women take on California (Pa.). The competition is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion. 

The Lady Knights beat Canisius 151-91 October 31 and won the Westminster Relay Meet October 30. At Canisius, the women were led by Sam Bluhm (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance), who took first in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. The 200 yard medley relay and 400 freestyle relay were winners also. 

The men lost at Canisius 137.5-88.5 after tying for first at the Westminster contest. Against the Griffins, Greg Nelson (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) took first in the 100 yard freestyle, Mitchel Meighan (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) took gold in the 200 individual medley with a come-from-behind effort, and the 200 medley relay team swam to a first place tie. 

In 2008, the women lost at Cal 116-107 on November 8. Bluhm won the 100 backstroke at the event.
