LA VERNE, Calif. - The Gannon men's water polo team dropped its second match in two days to a nationally-ranked opponent at the California Convergence Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 14 Concordia (Calif.)14-8.
Concordia led 3-0 after one quarter, before the two teams battled to a 4-4 dead heat in the second frame. The Eagles expanded their 7-3 halftime lead to 11-6 after three quarters and settled for a 14-8 victory with a 3-2 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes.
John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) led the Gannon attack with three goals.
Jamison Anton (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) added two scores.
Greg Nelson (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor),
Greg Naranjo (Coral Springs, Fla./Stoneman Douglas), and
Kenny Milburn (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) completed the scoring with one goal each.
Neal Zoellick (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) recorded eight saves in goal.
Gannon evened its record at 7-7 with Saturday's opening loss. Concordia improved to 16-2. The Golden Knights conclude Saturday play against Pomona Pitzer at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
