Ross, ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II Super Region One at 165 pounds, posted a perfect 2-0 record with the Gannon wrestling team last week. The redshirt junior began the week by knocking off Mercyhurst’s Francis Mizia who is ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II Super Region One and No. 3 in NCAA Division II. Trailing 4-3, Ross took Mizia down with 18 seconds remaining and rode him out for the victory. The decision gave Gannon a 15-9 team lead against No. 7 Mercyhurst at the time, before the Golden Knights fell just shy of the upset 24-18. Ross ended the week with a low-scoring 1-0 victory against Seton Hill’s Andrew Doak, recording the only point on a second-period escape. As with the Mercyhurst meet, his victory gave the Golden Knights a 15-9 advantage at the time. Ross extended his win streak to four matches, winning seven of his last eight matches. He moved to 18-5 overall and 7-1 in dual action. Ross leads Gannon in dual victories while ranking second among Golden Knights in overall wins and major decisions (5).
